Job summary

Amentum's Kennedy Space Center team seeks a Safety Engineer 3 to apply regulatory expertise and lead occupational safety programs on the KPLSS II program. You will develop, coordinate, and implement safety initiatives in collaboration with engineering staff, supporting hazard analyses and operating procedures.

The role requires a physical or biological science degree, five years of relevant experience, strong communications and analytical skills, and ability to obtain necessary security

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a physical or biological science and five years of job-related experience.
  • Very good communications and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software applications including extensive database use and data management.
  • Position may require travel.
  • U. S. Citizenship required for unescorted access to restricted assigned work area(s). Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain occupational safety and health procedures for assigned program areas.
  • Review literature and regulatory developments; maintain knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Serve as technical advisor to the EHS&Q Manager on safety matters.
  • Advise administration on risk management policies and safety issues.
  • Audit compliance and develop corrective action reports.
  • Review engineering designs and documentation for safety implications.
  • Establish goals, policies, and operating procedures; monitor effectiveness.
  • Conduct hazard analyses and site investigations; propose solutions.
  • Investigate incidents and perform root cause analyses; implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain nonconformance tracking and develop metrics.
