Job summary

Shield AI in San Diego is seeking a senior safety-critical software engineer to join the Hivemind Foundations team. You will design and implement RT-approved C++ systems that run alongside autonomous flight software.

You will mentor others, drive best practices, and help prepare artifacts for certifiability such as ADRs and ICDs, while ensuring robust safety monitors across platforms.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in safety-critical C++ with real-time guarantees.
• Experience mentoring engineers to improve software quality.
• Strong background in software assurance certifications and standards.

Responsibilities

• Drive architecture, development, integration and testing of RT-safe C++ software.
• Collaborate with Foundations to integrate with low-/high-assurance middleware.
• Mentor engineers in safe software development and best practices.
• Generate artifacts for certifiability: ADRs, ICDs, system models, reports.
• Support certification readiness and robust fail-safe behavior across platforms.
