Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Safety Coordinator II to support the Division Safety Program and enforce safety procedures in field operations. You will manage safety activities, inspect sites, document inspections, and promote compliant practices across projects.

You’ll develop training materials, assist with employee training, and mentor junior safety staff while exercising independent judgment on day-to-day tasks and reporting to the safety manager.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4+ years working as a Safety professional in a construction environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences is required or have related strong construction safety experience.
  • CHST or ASP certification would be ideal and preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
  • OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training required.
  • OSHA 500 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Tour and inspect job sites to ensure compliance with OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Document safety inspections and recommend corrective procedures.
  • Maintain site safety documentation including accident reports and training logs.
  • Prepare documentation for investigation of accidents and submit data to regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with development of training materials and coordinate employee training.
  • Train less-experienced safety employees as needed.
  • Use independent judgement and consult with manager on significant decisions.

Qualifications

  • Excellent working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or the state construction safety regulations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellentcustomer-service,peopleand organizational skills.
  • Strong computerskills-experiencewith Microsoft Office suite and ability to access OSHA information via the internet.
  • Sound knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures.
