Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Safety Coordinator II to support the Division Safety Program by enforcing safety procedures, coordinating safety activities, and ensuring compliance across field operations. This role emphasizes proactive safety management, documentation, and training delivery within a construction environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4+ years as a Safety professional in construction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences required or related strong construction safety experience.
  • CHST or ASP certification ideal and preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required.
  • OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training required.
  • OSHA 500 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Survey and inspect job sites to ensure compliance with OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Document safety inspections and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain site safety documentation and review daily hazard logs.
  • Prepare accident/injury investigation documentation for regulators.
  • Assist with development of training materials and coordinate employee training.
  • Train less-experienced safety staff as needed.
  • Exercise independent judgment in day-to-day safety decisions.

In this role, you'll assist the Division Safety Program in enforcing and regulating all safety procedures to ensure that Southland Industries meets all safety requirements in the field by managing and coordinating all division safety activities.

  • Tour and inspect smaller or larger complex job sites to ensure compliance with company, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.You'llreport concernstosafety management and ensure health and safety standards are met by coordinating,promotingand conducting various programs and activities related to the safety management system.
  • You'lldocument safety inspections, cite dangerous areas/proceduresand recommend corrective procedures.You'llprovide recommendations for correcting non-compliance issues and ensure cited issues are corrected withindesignatedtime frame.
  • You'llmaintainall site required documentation related to safety issues, including accident reports, inspectionreportsand training logs, and review daily job hazard logs andtake actionasrequired.
  • You'llprepare documentation for the investigation of accidents and injuries andsubmitdata to regulatory agencies asrequired.
  • You'llassistwith the development of training materials and coordinate andfacilitateemployeetrainingas necessary.
  • You'lluse your experience to trainless-experiencedsafety employees as needed.
  • We'll rely on your independent judgement and your ability to make decisions with respect to day to day job duties and you'll consult with your manager on decisions that significantly impact the company.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 4+ years working as a Safety professional in a construction environment, including training experience.
  • ABachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences isrequiredorhaverelated strong construction safety experience
  • Havea CHST or ASP certification would be ideal and preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certifications arerequired
  • OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr trainingrequired.
  • OSHA 500 preferred.
  • Excellent working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or the state construction safety regulations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellentcustomer-service,peopleand organizational skills.
  • Strong computerskills-experiencewith Microsoft Office suite and ability to access OSHA information via the internet.
  • Sound knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures.
