Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Safety Specialist to support a safe work environment by conducting inspections, documenting incidents, and coordinating safety programs and training across sites.

You will tour smaller, less-complex job sites to ensure OSHA compliance, maintain accident and inspection logs, provide emergency response, mentor junior safety staff, and help develop training materials. Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of OSHA standards are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline, or equivalent education, training and/or experience.
• 1+ years of relevant experience.
• CPR and First Aid, OSHA 500/CHST/ASP certification preferred.
• OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training preferred.
• Solid working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards.

Responsibilities

• Tours and inspects smaller, less-complex job sites to ensure compliance with OSHA rules and regulations.
• Documents safety inspections and recommends corrective actions.
• Maintains site safety documentation including accident reports and training logs.
• Provides emergency response to employees and documents investigation data.
• Serves as mentor to less-experienced Safety employees.
• Assists with development of training materials and coordinates employee training.
