Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking an experienced Rear Wheel Drive Axle & System Design Engineer to lead the design and development of axle and driveline systems for automotive applications. You will work on mechanical design, vehicle packaging, system integration, and guide products from concept to production.

The role requires 5+ years of engineering experience in automotive or commercial vehicles, with hands-on CATIA V5 and/or 3DEXPERIENCE CAD work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automotive or commercial vehicle engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of hands-on CAD design experience using CATIA V5 and/or 3DEXPERIENCE.
• Knowledge of RWD and/or FWD architectures, axle systems, and driveline integration.
• Experience with axle and shaft packaging, component interfaces, and mounting layouts.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawings.
• Understanding of DFMA, serviceability, durability, and validation principles.
• Experience in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and resolving engineering issues.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and cross-functional coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Define component and system-level engineering requirements for axle and driveline systems.
• Develop engineering concepts, 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
• Design and integrate rear axle systems, axle shafts, differential interfaces, and related drivetrain components.
• Perform vehicle packaging, clearance, feasibility, and tolerance studies.
• Evaluate the impact of axle, shaft, suspension, mounting, and surrounding vehicle structures on system integration.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance stack-up, DFMA, and serviceability principles.
• Support CAE analysis, prototype builds, testing, validation, and production launch.
• Troubleshoot design, manufacturing, quality, and durability issues using structured root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, suppliers, manufacturing, sourcing, and customers.
• Manage engineering changes, design documentation, and product releases.
