Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices is building next-generation systems software for AMD GPUs with a focus on Rust as a core technical direction. You will influence compiler, runtimes, firmware, and tooling across the GPU stack in a highly collaborative, production environment.

The role involves deep Rust systems programming, MLIR/LLVM-based pipelines, and hand-in-hand work with architecture and validation teams to ensure safe, high-performance GPU software on AMD platforms.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Rust systems programming and ownership concepts.
  • Strong understanding of compiler correctness and memory safety.
  • Ability to read low-level assembly, ISA encodings, and compiler output.
  • Experience with cross-language toolchains and interop (Rust/C/C++).
  • Familiarity with GPU architectures and AMDGPU backend concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of production-quality Rust components for low-level GPU systems.
  • Help make Rust a first-class engineering language across the GPU software stack, including toolchain integration and diagnostics.
  • Design and implement compiler pipelines involving rustc, MIR, MLIR dialects, LLVM IR and AMDGPU code generation.
  • Build analyses, transformations, and lowering for GPU execution models and memory spaces.
  • Define interfaces across compiler, host runtime, device code, firmware, and hardware boundaries.
  • Work on ABI definition, argument layout, linker behavior, and code-object metadata.
  • Develop bare-metal and no_std components where state and predictability are required.
  • Apply testing, fuzzing, and formal methods to ensure correctness across platforms.
