Job summary

AMD is building next-generation systems software for GPUs, focusing on Rust as a core technical direction. The role spans compilers, runtimes, low-level GPU software, firmware, and developer tooling to ensure safe, high-performance execution on AMD GPUs.

You will influence Rust usage across the stack, shaping production deployment, tooling support, verification, and architecture across current and future AMD platforms.

Qualifications

  • Strong production Rust experience with safe abstractions over unsafe operations.
  • Experience with low-level or constrained Rust (no_std, embedded) where applicable.
  • Solid C/C++ systems programming skills across mixed-language codebases.
  • Experience with rustc internals, MIR, custom codegen backends, or compiler plugins.
  • Familiarity with LLVM/MLIR and GPU backend basics (AMDGPU).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of production-quality Rust components for low-level and performance-sensitive GPU systems.
  • Help make Rust a first-class engineering language across the GPU software stack.
  • Design and implement compiler pipelines involving rustc, MIR, MLIR, LLVM IR, and AMDGPU code generation.
  • Develop analyses, transformations, and lowering passes for GPU execution models and memory spaces.
  • Define interfaces across compiler, host runtime, device code, firmware, and hardware boundaries.
  • Work on ABI definitions, calling conventions, and code-object metadata.
  • Provide or improve bare-metal Rust components with bounded behavior and predictable hardware effects.
  • Apply testing, fuzzing, and formal methods to prevent regressions.
