Hercules is seeking a staff level platform engineer to help us build the future of AI software development. You will lead the Hercules platform-as-a-service and design scalable backend infrastructure that powers autonomous AI workflows.

In this role you will work across database, backend services, APIs and SDKs, focusing on low latency, high throughput and multi-tenant reliability. Strong systems thinking and production-grade coding are essential.

Qualifications

• Software fundamentals: system design, architecture, data modeling, and API design.
• Code and codebase quality: write clean, maintainable code in a monorepo.
• Rust: build efficient and reliable production systems.
• Data systems: indexing, queries, transactions, and consistency.
• Infrastructure: scale large, multi-tenant distributed services.
• Performance: optimize latency, throughput and resource use.
• AI: frontiers of AI coding to 10x workflow.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Hercules platform-as-a-service and guide the database-like model.
• Build fast, scalable backend-as-a-service tightly integrated with the database.
• Design APIs & SDKs for AI agents to build on the platform.
• Engineer for low latency, high throughput, and efficient resource use.
• Build and operate multi-tenant, observable, resilient hosting infrastructure.
