Iris Software Inc. is seeking a skilled Ruby on Rails Developer for a fully remote role. The candidate will design, build, and maintain robust backend solutions, lead API development, and optimize database performance across distributed services.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of RoR experience, strong SQL skills, and a track record in test-driven development. You will work with product managers and designers in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Strong testing with RSpec/Capybara/FactoryBot.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, scalable Ruby code for backend services.
• Develop secure RESTful APIs for frontend and third-party integrations.
• Optimize database schemas and queries using ActiveRecord.
• Build and maintain automated tests (RSpec/Capybara/FactoryBot).
• Identify bottlenecks, memory leaks, and performance issues; optimize accordingly.
• Maintain security with authentication/authorization.
• Handle background jobs using Sidekiq or similar.
• Collaborate in Agile ceremonies with cross-functional teams.
