Job summary

Victory Live is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the technologies powering our B2B marketplace written in Ruby on Rails and Hanami. You will ship features across monoliths and microservices, retire technical debt, and set engineering standards as we scale a primary revenue engine.

You will lead high-throughput backend services, collaborate with Architects, and uphold quality through rigorous reviews and best practices while guiding onshore and offshore engineers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Ruby on Rails; Hanami a plus.
• Experience with high-throughput backend services and APIs at scale.
• Solid software engineering best practices and design patterns.
• Familiarity with Redis, Kafka, Postgres, Datadog, Grafana, Kubernetes, Helm, Kong, Terraform, Docker, GitHub.
• Experience with AWS services like RDS, ElastiCache, CloudSearch, EKS, MSK.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across teams to influence engineering work and align with strategy.
• Drive large-scale initiatives in Rails and Hanami services and ship scalable solutions.
• Provide guidance and support to engineers, helping them grow.
• Work with Architects to design system-level solutions and standards.
• Define and promote engineering best practices across teams.
• Identify and pay down technical debt in legacy Rails code.
• Maintain high code quality through rigorous reviews and testing.
• Write high-quality code on the most complex and critical work.
