Job summary

Northside Hospital is hiring a Registered Respiratory Therapist to independently provide respiratory therapies in line with physician orders and departmental guidelines.

The role involves caring for adolescent, adult, geriatric, and neonatal ICU patients, with competency in ventilator management and CPR. Requires GA-licensed RRT, BCLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and a degree from an accredited program.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited respiratory care program.
• Licensed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from Georgia Composite Medical Board in good standing.
• Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) by the American Heart Association.
• Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association.
• Certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in clinical practice; self-directed in goal setting in management of complex patients; adapts care to rapidly changing patient conditions.
• Provides safe, competent patient care; is knowledgeable of current respiratory care guidelines; communicates with peers, colleagues, providers and others.
• Assesses patient’s respiratory condition to determine status and treatment needs; recommends and/or implements therapies with clinical information.
• Interviews patients and family for information related to patient care.
• Maintains appropriate levels of functional equipment for departmental use.
• Performs arterial punctures and interprets blood gas analysis.
• Obtains arterial blood samples from indwelling lines.
• Performs pulse oximeter checks to evaluate respiratory status.
• Delivers treatments such as oxygen, aerosol, CPB, chest physiotherapy.
• Delivers tracheostomy care including suctioning and tube changes.
• Initiates and maintains CPR as needed.
• Sets up, operates, and maintains ventilators; transports ventilator patients.
• Performs non-invasive oxygen and CO2 monitoring; analyzes data.
• Maintains airways and bronchopulmonary hygiene.
