Amazon Robotics is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to join the Robotics Simulation team. You will bridge simulation to real robots, mentor scientists, and drive deployment-ready policies across multiple platforms.

Expect hands-on work with hardware, simulation environments, and production pipelines to ensure reliable transfer of learned policies to Amazon fulfillment centers. Ideal candidates have deep robotics expertise, experience with Physical AI, and a track record in sim-to-real transfer

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree plus 6+ years of applied research experience.
• Proficient in Java, C++, Python.
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and ML systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical robotics direction for Physical AI program across sim-to-real transfer.
• Mentor junior scientists and engineers on robot learning best practices.
• Design sim-to-real transfer strategies including system identification and domain randomization.
• Architect policy training pipelines combining teleoperation data, demonstrations, reinforcement learning, and imitation learning.
• Lead sim-to-real analysis and define metrics for fidelity and transfer success.
• Collaborate with hardware teams on embodied robot modeling and sensor characteristics.
• Evaluate state-of-the-art Physical AI approaches and integrate into simulation/training infra.
• Contribute to end‑effector modeling and physics tuning for diverse hardware.
