Job summary

Ambi Robotics in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Senior Project Engineer - Mechanical Systems to design, deploy, and support scalable robotic systems across customer sites. You will own deployments end to end, from requirements through shipment and on-site installation, partnering with the VP of Hardware.

The role emphasizes hands-on mechanical design in Onshape, strong project ownership, and collaboration with product, sales, operations, and customers to ensure on-time delivery and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering background with strong intuition and understanding of physical equipment.
• Experience translating customer requirements into concrete engineering plans and documentation.
• Proven ability to manage multiple dependencies and deadlines with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Own customer-specific robotic deployments end to end from requirements through shipment and installation support.
• Turn incomplete customer requirements into an engineering plan, identifying blockers early.
• Develop installation-ready system layouts and detailed designs in Onshape.
• Create and maintain assemblies, drawings, BOMs, and documentation for manufacturing and installation.
• Drive procurement, vendor coordination, kitting, and production to ship on schedule.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, controls, facility, and deployment interfaces with cross-functional teams.
• Use sound judgment to choose simple proven solutions and know when to involve other experts.
• Improve scalability by turning recurring project needs into reusable components, templates, standards, and processes.
