Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Robotics Engineer specializing in Robot Perception to advance perception capabilities for automated warehouse solutions. You will develop architectures that fuse vision, planning, and manipulation, and create extensive datasets from daily cases to improve model accuracy and system scalability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, Ph.D. a plus.
• 8+ years of robotics engineering and perception software experience.
• Proficiency in C++, C#, or Python; CV methods such as segmentation, detection, tracking, pose estimation, SLAM, 3D mapping; sensor calibration/fusion.
• Experience with NeRFs, Gaussian Splatting, LLMs, diffusion models in perception.
• Data engineering: building large-scale datasets and data pipelines.
• System integration: connect perception with planning and manipulation stacks for end-to-end automation.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced perception systems using state-of-the-art computer vision and deep learning.
• Maintain software quality with reviews, testing and documentation.
• Collaborate with robot planning and manipulation teams to embed perception data into control pipelines.
• Design and refine real-time decision-making workflows using integrated perception data.
• Create and curate datasets from millions of daily cases with data augmentation and automated labeling.
• Enhance simulation environments to bridge sim-to-real using synthetic data generation.
• Drive research and implement innovations to advance perception capabilities.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote continuous learning.
