Job summary

ArcBest is seeking a Robotics Engineer III - Perception to design and deploy advanced vision-enabled systems. Candidates will architect end-to-end perception solutions, train and optimize models, and collaborate with a broad engineering team on data pipelines, embedded hardware, and GPU-accelerated applications.

The role emphasizes leadership, rapid prototyping, and close work with senior leadership and customers to drive results within ArcBest’s strategic AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Robotics, CS or equivalent experience.
• 4 years of experience writing production level code in C++/Python.
• Experience with autonomous mobile robots, ROS2, Docker and GitHub.
• Ability to initiate and lead large-scale technical projects.
• Experience with large-scale vision-based datasets.
• Strong software engineering skills in design, containerization, testing, and debugging.
• Familiar with imaging modalities and multiple sensor domains; cameras and image processing; deploying CV/ML models; PyTorch/OpenCV/NumPy.

Responsibilities

• Architect full-stack vision solutions.
• Investigate novel computer vision approaches to optimize performance of vision systems.
• Leverage large volumes of real-world video and sensor data for data mining, curation, labeling, training, and evaluation.
• Lead efforts to enhance computer vision training sets.
• Refine and optimize models for low latency on embedded hardware.
• Develop and optimize GPU-accelerated applications.
• Implement models, data pipelines, and active learning in real-world use cases.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, contributing to skill development.
• Help build an AI team with best practices and inclusive culture.
• Apply Agile and CI in software development and maintenance.
• Develop and document system requirements, and decompose into components.
• Engage leadership and customers for updates, guidance, and showcasing results.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
