Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Senior Robotics Middleware Engineer to evaluate and optimize next-generation communication middleware for advanced robotic systems on NVIDIA Jetson-class platforms. The role focuses on Zenoh evaluation, ROS 2 RMW integration, and high-performance messaging on embedded Linux.

You will design and benchmark zero-copy and shared-memory architectures, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and document architectural decisions for scalable production robotics

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Deep hands-on experience with ROS 2 middleware architecture, RMW, and DDS internals.
• Experience with Zenoh or comparable frameworks (eCAL, Cyclone DDS, Fast DDS, iceoryx).
• Strong C++ development skills and knowledge of embedded Linux.

Responsibilities

• Lead a build-versus-adopt evaluation of Zenoh as a robotics communication transport.
• Integrate as an RMW layer within ROS 2 and provide benchmarking-backed recommendations.
• Design, implement, and optimize zero-copy and shared-memory messaging architectures.
• Analyze and improve messaging pipelines with memory layout and resource utilization optimizations.
• Develop and execute benchmarking frameworks to measure throughput and overall performance.
• Collaborate with robotics, software, and systems teams to implement scalable middleware.
• Document findings, benchmark results, and architectural recommendations.
