Job summary

Amazon is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive the design, development, and launch of advanced robotics hardware at scale. You will shape mechanism architectures and lead prototyping, testing, and integration across mechanical, electrical, and controls teams.

The role requires hands-on experience with CAD, DFM/DFA, and working with vendors to move designs from prototype to production. Join a multidisciplinary team tackling cutting-edge robotics challenges.

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience designing complex electromechanical systems at volume.
• 5+ years in mechanical design and product development.
• Strong 3D CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, CREO) for large assemblies.
• Experience with DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).

Responsibilities

• Define mechanical requirements and allocate them to components; perform trade studies to select architectures.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, and controls engineers on electromechanical integration, cable routing, and thermal management.
• Lead CAD design (SolidWorks or equivalent), tolerance stack-ups, FEA, and design reviews.
• Build and test electromechanical subsystem prototypes and integrated systems.
• Support product releases to manufacturing and customer deployments.
• Coordinate with external partners on statements of work and design reviews.
• Drive DFM/DFA and work with contract manufacturers to bring designs from prototype to production.
