Job summary

Ultra in New York City seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to own reliability, manufacturability, and cost of Ultra's electronics stack as we scale from 50 to 1000+ robots. You will influence every stage of product evolution to ensure scalable, supportable systems for deployment nationwide.

You will lead design, component selection, can/ethernet/USB communications, and collaborate with contract manufacturers to drive cost reductions while preserving reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience shipping hardware from prototype to volume manufacturing.
• Ability to debug intermittent faults and EMI/EMC issues in production.
• Proven track record reducing BOM costs without sacrificing reliability.
• Experience with robotics or electromechanical systems is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Make Ultra's electronics stack robust across environments and scale deployments.
• Debug and fix intermittent digital communications across the fleet.
• Lead design and component selection for motors, power, and sensors.
• Collaborate with CM/vendors for 1000+ unit production.
• Realize cost reductions while maintaining reliability.
• Lead rapid design loops from prototype to field validation.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions for electronics and subsystems.
