Boston Dynamics in Waltham, MA is seeking a Senior Staff DFM Manufacturing Engineer to bridge Hardware Engineering and our Precision Shop, turning complex robotic designs into high-precision machined parts.

You will own the manufacturability feedback loop, optimizing part geometry for cost and lead time, and leading Lean initiatives while mentoring engineers and technicians in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in machining-intensive environments.
• Expert in DFM/DFX with strong GD&T proficiency and fixture design experience.
• Proficient in CAD tools for design review and manufacturing support.

Responsibilities

• Lead DFM and DFA collaboration with design teams to ensure manufacturability.
• Interpret drawings and reconcile manufacturing constraints with performance needs.
• Define inspection protocols using GD&T and verify tight tolerances.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions to improve yield.
• Champion Lean initiatives to reduce cycle times and improve flow.
• Create process documentation, setup sheets, and work instructions.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians on DFX and good manufacturing practices.
