Field AI in Irvine, California is seeking a Senior/Staff Robotics Autonomy Engineer-Planning and Control to develop advanced motion planning and control algorithms for autonomous robots. This role involves designing and implementing algorithms that enable robots to navigate challenging environments efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD or relevant degree with extensive experience in motion planning and robotics. The position offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $300,000, reflecting experience and expertise.

Qualifications

PhD degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of industry or applied research experience.
Strong understanding of motion planning, trajectory generation, and control systems.
Experience developing algorithms for robotic systems (wheeled, legged, humanoid).
Familiarity with motion planning libraries like OMPL, MoveIt, and Nav2.
Solid programming skills in C++ and Python on Linux-based systems.
Familiarity with robotics middleware such as ROS/ROS 2.
Experience with robot sensors including LiDAR, stereo/depth cameras, IMUs, GPS, wheel encoders.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and refine motion and navigation planning algorithms for complex environments.
Develop and tune control algorithms for precise trajectory tracking.
Build and maintain testing pipelines for algorithm evaluation.
Investigate and resolve issues arising from deployments through data analysis.
