Job summary

Bayer Research & Development Services LLC in Ankeny, IA seeks a Senior Automation Engineer specializing in robotics software to build, configure, test, and deploy automation solutions for machine control and data management.

You will integrate hardware with software using OPC UA and Modbus, develop Python-based backend and multi-threaded systems, and create HMI interfaces with Javascript, Vue and FastAPI, while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Master's in Informatics, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering or closely-related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of experience developing software to communicate with PLC-controlled machines and integrating hardware.
• Experience with OPC UA and Modbus.
• Experience designing Python-based apps to integrate robotics with backend services and databases.
• Knowledge of multi-threading for machine automation and data management.
• Experience building HMI applications for machine control using Javascript, Vue and FastAPI.

Responsibilities

• Build and configure robotics automation applications for Ankeny, IA.
• Investigate mechanical failures and maintenance problems.
• Install, calibrate, operate and maintain robots and automation hardware.
• Develop and deploy robotics software for machine control and data management.
