Job summary

Blue River Technology is seeking a Senior RL Engineer in Santa Clara, CA to grow and shape our E2E machine learning and robotics stack. You will design the E2E training and inference pipeline across on-vehicle and off-vehicle environments, and help define new models and features.

The role requires leading RL development for safe, reliable autonomy, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, and mentoring the in-house RL team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years delivering high-performance RL products professionally.
• Proven track record in developing RL models and deploying to production for robotics.
• Experience with sim-to-real transfer and robotics environments.
• Strong Python coding skills and proficiency with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
• Experience designing and developing software for complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement state-of-the-art online and offline reinforcement learning algorithms for complex tasks with long horizons.
• Formulate reward models and exploration strategies that enable task performance and safe operation across varying tasks.
• Enhance policy robustness to sensor noise, wear, and environmental variability.
• Design and conduct experiments; develop evaluation frameworks for simulation and real-world deployment.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and robotics engineers to design scalable E2E training systems.
• Collaborate with pretraining and robotics engineers to integrate RL into the E2E autonomy stack.
• Drive the E2E vision and act as an ambassador for an E2E-first organization.
• Technical leadership and mentorship through code reviews and guidance.
• Stay up to date with the latest RL research and integrate advancements into our stack.
