Job summary

Moderna seeks a Senior Engineer I – Robotics Applications to deploy, configure, and support robotics systems across its manufacturing network with a focus on Drug Product. You will work with controls, systems, and site teams to deliver reliable robotics solutions, with up to 25% travel during critical phases.

The role emphasizes hands-on implementation, validation, and continuous improvement of automated processes in GMP environments within a collaborative, cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–7 years of robotics, automation, or manufacturing systems experience.
• Experience with industrial robots (Staubli, Fanuc, ABB).
• Exposure to GMP manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support installation, configuration, and commissioning of robotics systems.
• Assist in robot programming, vision system setup, and workflow configuration.
• Execute FAT, SAT, and commissioning protocols.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during deployment and operations.
• Support validation documentation and testing activities.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams during system implementation.
• Assist in continuous improvement and optimization of robotics processes.
• Support integration of robotics systems with existing equipment and workflows.
• Ensure adherence to safety, compliance, and data integrity standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

3–7 years of robotics/automation/manufacturing experience

Experience with industrial robots (Staubli, Fanuc, ABB)

Strong hands-on technical and problem-solving skills

Ability to collaborate across controls, hardware, and digital teams

Willingness to learn and grow in robotics/automation

Technical Project Management experience a plus
