Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Sr. Robotics Mechanical Engineer for Rotary Actuator Systems to shape next-gen actuator design and delivery across global robotics platforms.

You will own the full lifecycle from concept through deployment, leveraging BLDC motor design, QDD, and Strain Wave Gearing with high-volume manufacturing readiness. The role emphasizes architecture testing, FEA, prototype testing, and production validation, with responsibilities spanning vendor interactions, design

Qualifications

• Experience creating functional specifications, design verification plans and test procedures
• Bachelor's degree or above in robotics, mechanical/mechatronics engineering, systems engineering or related field
• Experience mentoring engineering teams on complex technical issues
• Experience with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities

Responsibilities

• Serve as the machine design expert and authority for robotic rotary actuator programs
• Own electromagnetic and mechanical design of actuators including custom motors and gear boxes
• Drive the technical roadmap for next generation rotary actuator systems
• Steer electronics packaging, mechanical transmission design, ICDs, spec sheets and assembly sequences
• Write functional specifications, design verification plans and test procedures
• Conduct simulation, evaluation, testing and validation of actuator and electromechanical systems
• Drive continuous improvement and design for manufacturability across high volume production environments
• Mentor junior engineers and model thorough engineering analysis
