Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Sr. Robotics Mechanical Engineer for Rotary Actuator Systems to own the full actuator design lifecycle from concept through scaled deployment for advanced robotic platforms.

The role focuses on high torque density actuators, precision gear trains, motor integration, and lifecycle validation, including BLDC, QDD, and Strain Wave Gearing architectures. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in robotics, mechanical/mechatronics engineering or related field.
• Experience mentoring or training engineering teams on complex technical issues.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the machine design expert for robotic rotary actuator programs with quality documentation.
• Own electromagnetic and mechanical design of actuators including topology, permanent magnet selection, FEA and thermal modeling.
• Drive the technical roadmap for next generation rotary actuator systems and architecture breakthroughs.
• Oversee electronics packaging, mechanical transmission design, ICDs and assembly sequences.
• Write design verification plans and test procedures, ensuring engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product launches and sustaining.
