Job summary

Horizon Surgical Systems is seeking a Senior/Staff/Principal Mechanical Engineer for Robotic Hardware in Los Angeles. The role involves leading the development of advanced surgical robotic systems focused on ophthalmology. Candidates should have strong experience in hardware design, compliance with FDA guidelines, and proficiency in CAD and programming.

Our compensation package includes a base salary ranging from $110k to $185k based on experience, along with comprehensive medical benefits and flexible time off.

Qualifications

• Preferred: B.S.+10/M.S.+8 YOE in robot product development.
• Minimum: B.S.+5/M.S.+3 YOE in robot product development.
• Must have previously developed multi-DOF robotic systems from concept to functional prototype.
• Design in compliance with FDA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams to develop electro-mechanical subsystems of a surgical robotic system.
• Contribute to design standards and Quality Management System.
• Analyze and solve engineering problems and maximize system functionality.
• Communicate and present to upper management and external parties.

Skills

Hardware design of robotic mechanisms

Experience with novel or unusual kinematic structures

Deep mechanical design expertise of linear and rotary joints

Proficiency at simulation and analysis of robotic kinematics

Familiarity with a wide range of transmission mechanisms

Sufficient programming ability in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++

Education

B.S. in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics/Biomedical/Robotics Engineering
