Job summary

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. in Jackson, MS is seeking a Senior Roadway Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation team.

You will lead planning, design, and construction support for highway and urban projects, collaborating with a skilled team on meaningful projects that serve communities. The role requires 5+ years of roadway design experience, a Civil Engineering degree, and a MS PE license or ability to obtain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• PE license in MS or ability to obtain.
• 5+ years of experience in planning and execution of roadway and related projects.
• Experience with Bentley MicroStation, GEOPAK/InRoads and OpenRoads Designer.
• Ability to prepare engineering records and concise technical reports.
• Experience with development of construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
• Superior communication skills and deep knowledge of company products and operations.
• Ability to manage a small number of projects.
• Self-motivated with a team player attitude.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and monitor budgets for transportation design projects.
• Oversee project schedules and on-time completion of projects.
• Serve as project engineer and as a designated client contact.
• Assist in construction bids or negotiations, including pre-bid conferences, interpretations and post-bid evaluations and contract preparation.
• Monitor work-in-progress on team projects.
• Stamp or seal work prepared by self or under direction.
• Participate in pre-project presentations, interviews, and promotions.
• Manage and monitor performance of personnel assigned to projects.
• Establish and maintain cordial and professional relations with clients and contractors; attend client meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
