Job summary

Gresham Smith in Baton Rouge, LA, is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer to lead transportation planning and design efforts for state and local projects. You’ll manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with public agencies, pursue funding opportunities, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with high-quality construction documents.

Requirements include a bachelor’s in Planning or Civil Engineering, 10–15 years of roadway design, and PE or AICP preferred; ORD experience strongly desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Planning, Civil Engineering, or Civil Engineering Technology.
• 10–15 years of roadway design or transportation project delivery.
• AICP or PE certification desired.
• Strong experience with DOT projects preferred.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation planning and design projects from initiation through construction support.
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and scope.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and client stakeholders to optimize solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and staff in deliverables and processes.
