Job summary

Gannett Fleming, Inc. is seeking a Senior Inspector to join our Construction Services team in Conneticuit. This full-time, onsite role leads roadway transportation projects, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in the field.

The candidate will observe contractor performance, maintain documentation, calculate quantities for monthly estimates, and ensure compliance with CTDOT standards. Night/weekend work may be required to meet project schedules and milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (or related field) with 4+ years of field inspection experience.
• NICET Level III Highway Construction Inspection with 6+ years, incl. 4+ in field.
• Experience inspecting roadway/bridge projects; CTDOT knowledge preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of contractor operations on roadway and bridge projects.
• Observe and document construction activities to verify contract compliance.
• Maintain daily inspection reports, field measurements, and records.
• Perform inspections and oversee field testing.
• Verify construction quantities and prepare documentation for monthly payments.
• Review materials, installation methods, and workmanship for conformance.
• Identify construction deficiencies and report to Chief Inspector or Resident Engineer.
• Assist with reviewing contractor schedules and monitor progress.
• Document field conditions and support change orders.
• Assist with weekly and monthly project reports.
• Monitor contractor compliance with traffic control plans, safety, and environmental permits.
• Coordinate with contractors to minimize disruption to the public.
• Assist with reviewing submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
• Assist with punch lists and documenting outstanding items.
• Use CTDOT-approved documentation systems to support project management.
