GFT is seeking an experienced Chief Inspector to join our Construction Services team in Conneticuit. This on-site, full-time role leads roadway and bridge inspection efforts, supervising staff, coordinating with CTDOT and contractors, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements and safety standards.

The candidate will manage schedules, reviews, and reporting while overseeing safety, quality, and coordination across projects in Connecticut.

Competenze

Valid CT credential with 5–6 years construction experience.
NICET Level IV Highway Construction Inspection with 10–12 years experience.
Experience supervising field inspection personnel on roadway/bridge projects.
Prior CTDOT project experience.
Knowledge of CTDOT procedures and documentation.
Oversee field inspection activities and coordinate multiple operations.
Experience reviewing schedules, payment estimates, change orders, and contractor documentation.
Strong communication, organizational and supervisory skills.
Willingness to work nights and weekends as schedules require.
Valid driver’s license.
OSHA 30-hour safety training preferred.

Mansioni

Manage daily observation of contractor operations for roadway and bridge construction projects.
Serve as field point of contact for the client and all project stakeholders.
Supervise and coordinate an assigned field office, including inspectors, community liaisons, and office engineers.
Conduct reviews and verifications of construction schedules, including baseline schedules and updates, in coordination with the client.
Perform inspections and oversee field testing.
Assist in the preparation and negotiation of construction change orders.
Prepare weekly and monthly project reports.
Review payment vouchers, manning reports, payroll certifications, and other labor documentation from the contractor.
Chair project progress meetings and distribute meeting minutes.
Ensure site safety, permit compliance, and coordination with adjacent projects.
Monitor contractor compliance with safety and health plans as well as quality assurance requirements.
Work with the contractor to minimize disruptions to the public.
Log and coordinate with designers to respond to contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
Prepare punch lists with the owner upon project completion.
Solve complex challenges relating to project schedules and budgets.
Oversee project personnel, timesheets, leave, and general team management.
Conduct cost-to-complete analyses.
Utilize spreadsheets, databases, and scheduling software to support project management functions.
Oversee inspection staff assignments and ensure construction activities receive appropriate inspection coverage.
Review inspection reports, quantity calculations, and construction documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Coordinate with CTDOT project engineers regarding construction issues, contractor performance, and project progress.
Provide technical guidance and direction to inspection personnel.
