Job summary

Volkert is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer/Project Manager for the Gulf Region, based in Mississippi and/or Tennessee. You will lead plan reviews, schedules, and client approvals for DOT and local projects, while coordinating multi‑office teams and ensuring budgets and quality.

Relocation may be required and PE licensure is essential. Candidates should have 10+ years in roadway design, OpenRoads/Geopak experience, and a valid driver's license, with strong communication and business development

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university.
• 10+ years of experience in roadway design.
• Previous DOT experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Proven ability to meet DOT standards, schedules, and budgets.
• Demonstrated experience managing medium to large, multi‑office, or concurrent projects.
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory MVR.
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide plan review and project management for DOT and local municipal projects.
• Coordinate project activities, schedules, and reporting for assigned work.
• Prepare, issue, and track project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and client approvals.
• Develop correspondence and documentation for clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
• Support project financial processes, including invoices and purchase orders.
• Prepare and edit meeting minutes, reports, and presentations.
• Assist with project submittals and bidding activities.
• Provide technical and administrative support to the project team.
• Support client relationships and contribute to business development with local municipalities.

We are currently searching for an experienced Senior Roadway Engineer/Project Manager to support our Gulf Region located in Mississippi and/or Tennessee.

Candidates should be based in or open to relocating to Mississippi or Tennessee.

What you’ll be doing:

• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
