Job summary

Volkert is seeking an experienced Senior Roadway Engineer/Project Manager for the Gulf Region, covering Birmingham, Huntsville, and Tuscaloosa, AL. Ten-plus years in roadway design are required, with ALDOT experience and a PE license preferred.

You will manage plans, schedules and contracts, liaise with clients and agencies, and lead multi-office teams on medium to large projects. OpenRoads and Geopak skills are expected.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• 10+ years relevant experience in roadway design.
• PE license required; ALDOT experience preferred.
• Proven ability to meet DOT expectations, schedules, and budgets.
• Experience managing medium to large projects and multi-office teams.
• Strong leadership and client liaison skills with excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide plan review and project management for ALDOT and/or local municipalities.
• Organize activities, schedules, and reporting for assigned projects.
• Prepare, issue and track contracts, change orders, and client sign-off.
• Prepare correspondence with clients, vendors and regulatory agencies.
• Assist with invoices, purchase orders, and outside resources as needed.
• Prepare/edit meeting minutes and presentations; support bidding activities.
• Support project team with technical and administrative tasks.
• Market local municipal clients; work with cross-office teams.
