Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Senior Roadway Designer to lead transportation projects within our Transportation Team. You will design and analyze freeways, interstates, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails, taking ownership from start to finish.

The ideal candidate holds a P.E. license with 10+ years in roadway design, a BS in Civil Engineering, and hands-on experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Hybrid opportunities may be available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Proven success leading roadway projects and coordinating with clients and teams
• P.E. licensure required or in active process
• Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program
• Experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads or AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Familiarity with WSDOT/ITD plan preparation standards
• Hydraulics and traffic experience considered a plus
• Willingness to work locally or via workshare with other offices
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and budgets
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

What are the core responsibilities for the role?

• Design and analysis of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails
• Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide variety of transportation projects
• Lead client relations, stakeholder management, and sub consultant coordination
• Coordinate and work within a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of projects
• Take ownership of projects from start to finish

Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies

• Professional Civil Engineering certification (P.E.)
• 10+ years experience in Roadway Design
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge and experience with Microstation OpenRoads, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineering
• Experience with WSDOT/ITD’s plan preparation procedures and standards
• Hydraulics and traffic experience is a plus
• Willingness to work on projects locally or through workshare with other offices
• Possess a proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff, and management
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills
• A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment to create designs and drawings supporting our client's overall project goal
