Job summary

LJB Inc. in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking an experienced Roadway Design Engineer to support and grow our Transportation Practice. You will lead roadway design tasks from early concept through final bid packages, collaborating with clients, public agencies, and internal teams to deliver safe, efficient infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering degree, a PE license (OH preferred), and 10–20 years of transportation design experience, plus project management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
• P.E. license required; OH PE is preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to get their OH PE within the first year of hire.
• 10 to 20 years of progressive engineering experience possessing a broad knowledge and experience in transportation and roadway design.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway design tasks for projects from preliminary to final design.
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
• Established working relationships with client staff, project managers, and DOT/local governments.
• Provide engineering design services for traditional design-bid-build and design-build transportation projects.
• Mentor junior engineers in final design plans and cross-discipline coordination.
• Coordinate design activities with staff, subcontractors, and client managers.
• Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling.
• Identify schedule and cost variances and develop corrective actions.
• Lead and participate in transportation-related organizations such as ASHE, ASCE, DBIA.
• Other duties as assigned.
