Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of roadway or bridge construction inspection experience.
• Current with or ability to obtain ACI, DEQ, and VDOT certifications.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and field-testing equipment.
• Willing to work day and night shifts; valid driver’s license; pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, inspect, and oversee inspection activities for roadways, bridges, and structures.
• Monitor contractors and schedules to ensure quality control and contract compliance.
• Apply VDOT standards, specifications, and procedures in inspections.
• Document field measurements and testing of pay items.
• Suggest changes to construction plans to meet field conditions or save costs.
• Review EEO/DBE documentation for compliance.
• Oversee Inspectors and Inspectors Trainees; manage records via VDOT systems.
• Complete testing per VDOT procedures; maintain project documentation.
• Apply BMPs to environmental and safety inspections.
• Coordinate with Localities and VDOT on stakeholder communication.
• Assist with change orders, investigations, and Notices of Intent.
