Job summary

Alpha Corporation in Culpeper, VA is seeking a Senior Inspector experienced in bridge and roadway construction to support a major bridge deck replacement project. The role ensures construction meets contract requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.

You will oversee inspection activities, coordinate with contractors and project managers, and prepare daily reports. Required VDOT certifications and a high school diploma; ability to work days and nights; valid driver’s license;

Qualifications

• Significant experience in bridge and roadway construction inspection.
• Current or able to obtain VDOT certifications: Hydraulic Cement Concrete Field, Soils & Aggregate, Asphalt Levels I & II.
• High school diploma or GED; proficiency with MS Office and field-testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and inspect all bridge replacement activities, demolition, reinforcement steel installation, approach slabs/abutments/parapet walls, and deck concrete placement.
• Monitor demolition of the existing bridge and verify compliance with safety and environmental procedures.
• Oversee and inspect roadway/grade construction activities using VDOT methods, safety and environmental practices, and materials testing procedures.
• Conduct daily field inspections to ensure adherence to plans, specs, and codes.
• Prepare and maintain detailed daily inspection reports and site diaries.
• Perform on-site quality assurance and quality control inspections for materials and workmanship.
• Coordinate with contractors, PMs, and engineers to address field issues in real time.
• Lead or participate in progress meetings, safety briefings, and stakeholder coordination.
• Review and verify completed work for accuracy.
• Prepare weekly/monthly progress reports and distribute minutes.
