Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to support transportation construction projects across multiple project locations. The role involves inspecting traffic control, environmental controls, layout, and materials, under direct supervision by senior inspectors and engineers.

The position requires reading construction plans, interpreting contract provisions, and maintaining clear communication in English.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 2 years of related experience; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review contractor daily reports and QC procedures; verify conformance with QC Plan.
• Review material testing procedures and results; measure quantities of materials placed; may perform sampling or in-place testing.
