Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Inspector to support our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group on various project locations. The role involves inspecting traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under supervision, and ensuring compliance with plans and specifications.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• English communication skills required (verbal and written).
• Basic arithmetic proficiency required.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn new programs quickly.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review contractor daily reports and assist in acceptance/rejection decisions in accordance with the Quality Control Plan.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract; measure quantities placed.
• May perform sampling or in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete and asphalt pavement.
