Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to support our Transportation Construction group across project locations in the United States. You will work under direct supervision to inspect traffic control, materials, and construction methods on highway projects, providing real‑world experience and contributing to project success.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and at least 2 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review daily contractor reports and verify Quality Control procedures and material testing per approved plans.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance; measure quantities and may perform sampling or in‑place testing.
