Job summary

Fayette County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a full-time crew member to operate a range of heavy and light equipment in asphalt paving, grading, and drainage projects as part of a public works crew. The role may include off-hours on-call duties to support road and public property maintenance.

Major duties include operating vehicles and pavement machines, installing and maintaining traffic control devices, lining up patches, and performing routine equipment maintenance while adhering to

Qualifications

• Must have HS diploma or GED.
• Must read, write and perform basic math.
• Sufficient experience to understand basic principles of the job.
• Must possess Class B CDL in GA within 9 months of hire/promotion.
• GDOT flagging certification within 9 months of hire/promotion.

Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt paving and support equipment as a senior crew member.
• Participate in asphalt paving operations and ensure standards are met.
• Flag traffic and set up work zone controls.
• Use tools for maintenance, patches, and road repairs.
• Operate heavy and light equipment during grading and drainage work.
• Maintain assigned equipment and assist with signs and signals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
