Job summary

Fayette County Administration is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator to support asphalt paving, grading, drainage, and general road maintenance on county properties. The role may involve on-call responses outside normal hours.

The successful candidate will operate trucks and equipment, perform hand-tool tasks, and help install traffic control devices while maintaining equipment and following safety standards.

Qualifications

• Reading and writing basic information.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license (Georgia).
• GDOT flagging certification within 9 months from hire/promotion.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment for asphalt paving operations.
• Perform grading and maintenance tasks with assorted tools.
• Mow and maintain rights-of-way and drainage areas.
• Flag traffic and install/maintain traffic control devices.
