Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (RN) to join our enterprise corporate team. The role is full-time and hybrid, with one day onsite per week, based in North Wilkesboro, NC.

The position involves ensuring accurate DRG assignments through meticulous documentation and physician queries, with a focus on improving documentation quality for billing and outcomes. Qualified candidates will have a BSN, a current RN license, and at least five years of direct

• Current RN license in the applicable state.
• BSN from an accredited school.
• CCD S certification within two years of hire is recommended.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates clinical documentation to support severity of illness and complexity of care.
• Performs medical record reviews and assigns MS-DRGs with physician queries.
• Meets productivity targets for record reviews and pre-bill documentation.
• Collaborates with inpatient coding staff and case managers to ensure accurate DRG assignment.
• Provides education to physicians and providers on documentation quality and specificity.
• Supports ICD-10-CM/PCS training for providers and reinforces coding guidelines.
