Job summary

Accounting Search is seeking an experienced electronics technician in Iowa to troubleshoot, repair, and analyze returned products. You will support continuous improvement through root-cause analysis, test-system development, and collaboration with product teams while mentoring less experienced technicians.

The role involves designing and maintaining test fixtures, documenting troubleshooting protocols, and providing design feedback to help enhance product reliability.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in component-level troubleshooting and repair of electronics.
• Soldering for fine-pitch SMT and through-hole PCB assemblies required.
• Experience with microprocessor- and microcontroller-based products.
• IPC soldering certification preferred (IPC-J-STD-001 / IPC 7711/7721).
• Ability to read schematics and measure with scopes and meters.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot failures and perform root-cause analysis on returned electronics.
• Repair components at the PCB level in devices returned by customers.
• Collect repair data and maintain a repair database.
• Mentor less experienced technicians and provide technical guidance.
• Design, build, and maintain test fixtures and systems (hardware/software/mechanical).
• Develop troubleshooting protocols and document them for teams.
• Provide feedback to product teams for design improvements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
