Job summary

Blue River Technology is hiring a Senior ML Engineer in Santa Clara, CA to drive the E2E machine learning and robotics stack. You will shape end-to-end training and inference pipelines, both on- and off-vehicle, and lead new model development to scale production.

The role requires building robust ML systems, collaborating with product, software, hardware, and field teams, and delivering safe, scalable autonomy solutions with a bias toward practical deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years delivering high-performance ML products, preferably in end-to-end robotics/autonomy.
• Proven track record in developing ML models and deploying to production for robotics.
• Software design for complex systems and hardware-aware ML problems.
• Strong Python coding and PyTorch experience.
• Ability to work across teams and communicate effectively.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; strong architectural instincts.
• Proven track record of preemptively addressing technical issues.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end policies for navigation and manipulation with long horizons.
• Enhance policy robustness against environmental variability and wear.
• Drive data and modeling life cycle from collection to deployment; iterate for performance.
• Develop pretraining strategies with multimodal data and large-scale logs.
• Edge deployment with constrained compute performance.
• Active learning on the edge and scalable data pipelines.
• Collaborate on scalable distributed training pipelines and infrastructure.
• Integrate ML into the E2E autonomy stack with robotics and hardware teams.
• Translate customer needs into ML architecture; interface with product managers.
• Contribute to perception system design, safety validation, and testing frameworks.
• Shape the E2E operations theory and safety testing approaches.
• Lead and mentor the E2E robotics team and promote empirical testing.
• Stay current with research and practical integrations.
