Capital One is seeking a strategic Senior Manager for the Global Payment Network (GPN) Controls Advisory Team. This role uses leadership, communication, analytical and problem solving to partner with the GPN business to modernize controls and guide new control builds and modernization of existing controls.

You will need strong risk mindset, judgment, and ability to influence priorities with GPN Leaders and across the Lines of Defense to grow and maintain a robust Controls Advisory program.

We’re looking for a strategic, forward thinking Senior Manager for our Global Payment Network (GPN) Controls Advisory Team. In this role, you will use your leadership, communication, analytical and problem solving skills to partner with the GPN business to modernize its controls. This talented team will act as a critical bridge between risk and business partners, providing expert guidance on controls best practices, new control builds, and modernizing and improving existing controls.

You will need a well developed risk and control mindset, strong judgment, and the ability to influence priorities to GPN Leaders and across the Lines of Defense teams to grow and maintain a strong Controls Advisory program.

The ideal candidates will possess a unique combination of strong leadership qualities including strategic planning, outstanding communication and soft skills, with natural problem solving and analytical skills and collaboration abilities. This position will require strong judgment and relationship management to understand the needs and requirements of partners across the company.

Scope and Responsibilities

• Act as a point of contact for controls-related projects and inquiries to provide expert advice and guidance on new control builds as well as modernization of existing controls.
• Drive initiatives to automate and improve control processes where appropriate.
• Develop of a scalable controls advisory function and framework to support the GPN business.
• Help to ensure alignment of first line controls with relevant regulations, risks, internal policies, and industry best practices.
• Partner with second and third lines of defense to ensure a cohesive and effective overall control environment.
• Provide oversight and guidance to the GPN business on the implementation and adherence to the controls governance framework and partner to embed controls governance principles within their day-to-day operations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the first, second, and third lines of defense.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree or military experience
• At least 5 years of Risk Management experience, with expertise on control creation, testing, methodology and design best practices.
• At least 5 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients
• Experience leveraging AI tools to efficiently mitigate risk and improve processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters Degree
• 5+ years of Project Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk
• 5+ years of Financial Services risk management experience
• 3+ years of experience in Data Analysis
• 3+ years of people management experience
• Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)
• Lean, Agile, Six Sigma or Business Process Management
• PMP Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

• McLean, VA: $177,700 - $202,800 for Sr. Risk Manager
• Richmond, VA: $161,500 - $184,300 for Sr. Risk Manager
• New York, NY: $193,800 - $221,200 for Sr. Risk Manager
• Riverwoods, IL: $161,500 - $184,300 for Sr. Risk Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
