Job summary

USAA Life Insurance Company is seeking a detail-oriented Risk Advisor to strengthen risk identification, controls, and compliance across Life business units. You will support risk assessments, data analysis, and remediation activities, partnering with Compliance, Risk Management, IT, and Audit teams to uphold the risk framework.

The role focuses on first-line defense, control effectiveness, and ongoing supervision of business processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant education/experience.
• 6 years of experience supporting risk-related, compliance related, or business control design activities; OR 6 years in a relevant quantitative discipline; OR advanced degree with 4 years of experience; OR PhD with 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and drive stronger controls and risk/regulatory initiatives including governance, reporting, and control design.
• Supervise business controls and share knowledge to assess effectiveness of established controls.
• Analyze risk data, prepare reports, and identify trends using BI tools.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen the control environment with actionable insights.
• Translate deficiencies into action plans and enhance governance in line with frameworks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve and prevent unfavorable trends and assess impacts.
• Lead project teams through all phases of remediation for timely results.
• Advise senior management on control status and weaknesses.
