Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced HR Data Risk professional in the United States to lead risk assessments, governance, and reporting across HR processes and technology. You will drive decisions by transforming complex information into actionable leadership narratives and measurable risk metrics.

The role requires strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and advanced PowerPoint and Excel capabilities to deliver executive-ready dashboards and scorecards.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in risk management, operational or technology risk, data governance, or related discipline.
• Demonstrated risk and control judgment across programs and teams.
• Experience independently leading complex projects or cross-functional initiatives to defined outcomes.
• Ability to organize ambiguous information and develop practical, proportionate recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead HR data risk assessments, reviews, and governance activities.
• Analyze policies, standards, and controls as they apply to HR processes, applications, reporting, analytics, vendors, and technology.
• Assess materiality and recommend proportionate responses based on objectives and requirements.
• Evaluate control objectives, evidence, ownership, dependencies, issues, and remediation.
• Identify gaps, emerging risks, and unresolved questions.
• Frame issues into leadership decisions with options and recommended paths forward.
• Escalate material risk decisions and governance matters.
• Independently lead risk analysis and execution for HR Data Risk projects
• Define milestones, actions, dependencies, and completion criteria for ambiguous tasks.
• Coordinate across HR, Technology, Risk, and enterprise partners; document decisions and follow-up actions.
• Identify blockers, changing requirements, and competing priorities.
• Build dashboards, scorecards, and portfolio reporting for executives.
• Synthesize information into analysis, recommendations, and decision materials.

Job description

• Lead HR data risk assessments, reviews, and governance activities
• Analyze enterprise policies, standards, and controls as they apply to HR processes, applications, reporting, analytics, vendors, and technology
• Assess materiality and recommend proportionate responses based on control objectives, business impact, and applicable requirements
• Evaluate control objectives, evidence, ownership, dependencies, issues, exceptions, and remediation
• Identify gaps, inconsistencies, emerging risks, and unresolved questions
• Frame complex issues into management decisions with options, tradeoffs, and recommended paths forward
• Escalate material risk decisions, unresolved ownership, exceptions, significant dependencies, and matters requiring formal governance or management acceptance
• Independently lead risk analysis and execution coordination for assigned HR Data Risk projects and workstreams
• Define outcomes, milestones, actions, dependencies, deliverables, and completion criteria for ambiguous assignments
• Coordinate across HR, Technology, Risk, and enterprise partners; facilitate working sessions, document decisions and actions, and drive follow-up
• Identify blockers, changing requirements, ownership gaps, and competing priorities
• Build presentations, dashboards, scorecards, and portfolio reporting for management and executive audiences
• Synthesize complex, fragmented, or incomplete information into analysis, recommendations, and decision materials
• Translate workstream information into concise leadership narratives covering risk posture, key risks, dependencies, operational impact, milestones, and recommendations
• Analyze workstreams to surface trends, recurring issues, emerging risks, and capacity or dependency concerns
• Review risk documentation, presentations, dashboards, and trackers for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and unsupported conclusions
• Build reusable templates, trackers, playbooks, and decision tools; identify opportunities to automate, standardize, or simplify recurring reporting, tracking, and evidence collection

Requirements

• Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in risk management, operational or technology risk, information security risk, data governance, compliance, audit, controls, risk transformation, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Demonstrated risk and control judgment
• Experience independently leading complex projects, assessments, workstreams, or cross-functional initiatives through to defined outcomes
• Ability to assess materiality, organize ambiguous or incomplete information, and develop practical, proportionate recommendations
• Strong project-management skills across milestones, dependencies, actions, risks, decisions, and competing priorities
• Advanced PowerPoint skills for executive-ready presentations
• Strong Excel skills with experience building dashboards, scorecards, or management reporting
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong facilitation and stakeholder-management skills
• Sound judgment handling highly sensitive and confidential information
• Ability to work independently while recognizing when escalation, additional expertise, or a management decision is required
