Job summary

Millennium Physician Group is seeking a Risk Adjustment Coding Specialist II to translate patient encounters into provider-selected ICD-10-CM codes for claims processing. You will abstract diagnoses, verify documentation quality, and ensure accuracy before submission.

Working with the MRA Department, you will focus on concurrent outpatient claim coding, perform detailed reviews for HCC/Risk Adjustment, and maintain certifications while upholding HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in payer or healthcare field.
• 3+ years of HCC coding experience preferred.
• CPC, CRC, CDEO or AHIMA/AAPC credentials preferred.
• Proficient in 10-key, Word, and Excel.
• Maintain professional certifications and adhere to regulatory requirements.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts and validates ICD-10-CM codes to the highest level of specificity in the patient record.
• Performs comprehensive reviews to identify opportunities and outliers in provider actions.
• Keeps leadership informed with status reports and flags risks to project success.
• Collaborates with MRA Department members to ensure accurate coding and documentation.
• Maintains certifications and adheres to professional and ethical requirements.
• Demonstrates knowledge of reimbursement methodologies, coding conventions, and HCC/Risk Adjustment.
• Conducts encounter-level reviews for HCC/Risk Adjustment.
• Communicates trends in coding and documentation to providers when needed.
• Documents and tracks queries to providers in the identified database.
• Exercises strong written, verbal communication and attention to detail.
