Job summary

BAC Manufacturing is seeking a Mechanic I to clear lines using heavy equipment and cranes, while mentoring junior mechanics. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficiency in shipping operations. The incumbent will read blueprints, manage measurements, and document processes to support plant objectives.

Expect variable shifts, strong problem-solving, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet customer shipping needs and maintain 5S standards.

Qualifications

• Must operate major and minor material handling equipment safely.
• Ability to obtain heavy equipment certifications as needed.
• Demonstrated ability to self-manage and lead small groups.
• Read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
• Mathematical skills including fractions and conversions.
• Knowledge of 5S and continuous improvement tools.
• Ability to document processes and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to move finished goods and maintain safety standards.
• Lead junior mechanics and provide mentorship when needed.
• Follow SOPs for shipping and material handling.
• Maintain neat and accurate paperwork and logs.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and root cause analysis.
• Support cross-functional teams and adapt to multiple workstations.
• Contribute to safety improvements and sustainability initiatives.
• Work extended shifts and adapt to weather conditions as required.
